South African Hockey Association Welcomes New CEO, Phikolomzii Mbuqe

The South African Hockey Association (SAHA) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Phikolomzii Mbuqe as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Mbuqe brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. He holds a National Diploma in Sport Management, an NQF8 qualification in Management Advancement, and has completed numerous short courses and certificates in sport and management. Currently serving as a Project Manager in private enterprise, his professional background includes serving as Operations Manager at Gymnastics South Africa, and previously as Assistant Director and Acting Deputy Director: Federation Support and Liaison at the National Department of Sport and Recreation.

A Vision for Growth and Sustainability

Mr. Mbuqe’s vision for SA Hockey is rooted in strengthening governance, expanding participation, driving athlete development, and achieving international success. His philosophy is to foster excellence and inclusivity while ensuring hockey continues to make a positive social impact.

SA Hockey President, Deon Morgan, expressed his confidence in the appointment:

His proven track record, both in federation management and within the Department of Sport and Recreation, together with his clear and ambitious vision for the growth of hockey in South Africa, make him the ideal leader for this next chapter. The South African Hockey Association is confident that under Mr. Mbuqe’s leadership, the sport will continue to grow in participation, competitiveness, and global standing.
