South African Hockey is pleased to confirm that the South African Men’s Hockey Team will host Malaysia in a five-test match series at Riverside Sports Club in Durban from 6–12 July 2026.
The series will provide another important opportunity for the South African Men to compete against high-quality international opposition on home soil, continuing the momentum built during a memorable period for the national team.
The series will also give hockey supporters in KwaZulu-Natal the chance to watch international hockey up close, as South Africa welcomes a Malaysian side known for its pace, skill and attacking threat.
SA Hockey President Deon Morgan said the series is another important step in growing the game and creating meaningful international opportunities for the national team.
“We are delighted to welcome Malaysia to South Africa for what promises to be an exciting and competitive test series,” said Morgan. “Fixtures like these are vital for our players, our coaches and the continued development of the national programme.”
Morgan added that taking international hockey to Durban is an important part of SA Hockey’s commitment to growing the game across the country.
“Riverside Sports Club has a proud hockey tradition, and we are looking forward to seeing supporters come out and get behind the team. Every opportunity to play at home matters, and every opportunity for young players and fans to experience international hockey matters.”
The five-match series follows an intense international window for the South African Men and will form part of the team’s ongoing preparation toward future continental and global competitions.
South Africa and Malaysia have produced exciting contests in recent years, and the upcoming series is expected to deliver another high-tempo showcase of international hockey.
