Two South African teams. Two World Cups. One nation behind them.
The South African Hockey Association has today launched national crowdfunding campaigns to carry our Men’s and Women’s National Hockey Teams to the FIH Hockey World Cups in August 2026, and every South African is invited to be part of the journey.
Both teams arrive in Europe as the reigning African champions, having beaten the continent to earn their place among the very best in the world. They have done the hard part. Now they need the country behind them.
Following the success of a similar World Cup campaign for the Women’s Hockey5s team in 2024, ProTouch Africa is once again leading the charge to rally support behind our national teams.
“When an African athlete stands on a world podium, the impact reaches far beyond the medal. It changes what young people believe is possible, what investors believe is fundable, and what the world believes about the continent,” commented Rebecca Eliot, Co-Founder of ProTouch.
Both campaigns exist to close the funding gap that elite South African athletes continue to face, and to ensure our players can prepare, compete and represent the country at the highest possible standard. Contributions go directly towards international travel and tournament participation, accommodation and logistics, high-performance training camps, performance support spanning sport science, conditioning, recovery and analysis, and playing and training kit for the international campaigns.
Our players come from communities across every corner of the country. They carry our flag, our hopes and our story onto the world stage, and they do it with resilience, belief and national pride. When they walk out in green and gold, they walk out for all of us.

About the Tournament
With 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams competing, the World Cup promises thrilling group battles, intense knockout drama and historic rivalries played out across world-class venues in Wavre, Belgium and Amstelveen, Netherlands. The event runs from 15 to 30 August 2026 and marks just the third time in history that the men’s and women’s World Cups will be staged together, an inspiring demonstration of unity, excellence and the global growth of hockey.
The tournament features two group phases with four matches per day from 15 to 24 August 2026, followed by the semi-finals on 27 and 28 August and the finals on 29 and 30 August. South Africa’s men open against Spain on 16 August, then Ireland on 18 August and Australia on 20 August. South Africa’s women open against England on 16 August, then India on 18 August and China on 20 August.
For Corporate Supporters
For brands and corporate partners, these campaigns offer a meaningful opportunity to align with high-performance national programmes, support athlete development, and be associated with South Africa’s international sporting journey. Partners can choose to back the men’s team, the women’s team, or both, and stand alongside the country at a defining moment for South African hockey.
Every contribution, of any size, helps turn preparation into performance. Every Rand counts, and every supporter forms part of the team behind the team. Together, let’s send our African champions to the World Cup carried by a nation that believes in them.
Back our African Champions. Power the Push. Believe in the Journey.
