South African Hockey has announced the South African Under 21 Men’s side that will take part in the 2023 SA Hockey IPT in KwaZulu Natal in August. The young South Africans performed admirably at the last tournament in securing a bronze medal, with ambitions on building towards the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup in Malaysia in December the key focus.
South Africa secured their place at the tournament in Malaysia when they defeated the hosts Egypt in the final of the Junior African Cup, the two sides are now in the same pool at the Junior World Cup. The core of the squad remains from that tournament with all eyes being drawn to senior World Cup sensation Mustapha Cassiem, winner of
James Flint was the top goal scorer in Egypt and his penalty corner battery will be integral to the team at Riverside Sports while Cameron le Forestier and Carloon Mentoor love goal scoring as much as most strikers, if not more.
