SA Women’s Under 21 Squad Named for IPT

The South African Hockey IPT tournament takes place in August at Riverside Sports in KwaZulu Natal. The tournament offers a tantalizing battle into South African hockey supremacy it also marks a critical opportunity for development for the national under 21 side in their preparation for the FIH Junior World Cup in Chile in December.

South African Hockey are pleased to announce the SA U21 Women’s Hockey side that will participate against the South African provincial sides over a week on the coast. Coach Lenise Marais has kept things largely consistent.

The SA U21 side finished in a superb 7th place in Potchefstroom in 2021 and players from that squad Mikkela le Roux, Caylin Maree and Tamlyn Kock will be vital with that experience within the squad. They are also joined by national outdoor squad capped players Kayla Swarts, Taheera Augousti and Ntsopa Mokoena.

Cerian Fourie and Daniella de Oliveira have represented the country on the senior stage for Indoor Hockey, while Rea Phume and Germarie Speershott participated in the African Cup Hockey5s Qualifier.

The team secured their place at the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup when they were triumphant in defending their Junior African Cup title earlier this year. With ambitions and hopes high for the international challenge that awaits, the IPT affords the team an incredible opportunity to test their competitiveness and fine tune on the road to Chile.
