The South African Hockey Association is pleased to announce that Guy Elliott has been reappointed to the role as head coach of the South Africa Under 21 Men. Elliott who held this position since June 2022 led the South Africans to the Junior World Cup in Malaysia last year, where they finished in 10th place.
The first task for Elliott will be leading the team at the Senior IPT as he builds towards the Junior Africa Cup in October this year and looks to qualify for the FIH Junior World Cup 2025 (The host country yet to be announced).
Elliott, whose team were acknowledged for their attacking style of play in Malaysia, will have watched the recently completed SA Hockey Under 21 IPT pleased with the next generation of stars putting their hands up.
“I’m happy that SAHA have faith in me to continue working with the team and I’m excited to improve and grow the processes that we created in the last campaign. Hopefully, a coach who is afforded an opportunity to do two campaigns will create consistency within the program. Whilst the World Cup is always the target my main aim is to produce players with the skill set to represent the national team.”
South African Hockey also announces the appointment of Bevan Bennett as Elliott’s assistant with the further coaching staff to be appointed in due course.
South African Hockey wishes Elliott and Bennett the best of luck for the challenge ahead.
