South African Hockey have announced the SA Women’s Hockey team for the upcoming tour to Korea, where they will play a series of friendlies against Japan and China, as well as two tests against Korea. The tour comes hot on the heels of a successful trip to Chile and is part of the team’s preparation for the Road to Paris Qualification event for the Olympics.
Currently ranked 22nd in the world, the South African Women’s Hockey Team are on a journey to challenge the best nations in the world. Central to this process is the experienced core of Quanita Bobbs, Erin Christie and Celia Seerane. The trio is in a squad that is bursting with exciting young talent.
“We’re really excited to be heading to Korea,” said head coach Giles Bonnet. “Playing against teams like Japan and China will be a great challenge for us, and we’re looking forward to testing ourselves against some of the best teams in the world.”
One of the most exciting aspects of the tour is the inclusion of youngsters like Taheera Augousti, Cailynn den Bakker and Ntsopa Mokoena in the squad amongst others. The trio are rising stars in South African hockey and have shown immense potential in their short careers.
The South African Women’s Hockey Team’s tour to Korea promises to be an exciting and challenging experience for the players and a great opportunity for fans to see the team in action. The team is looking forward to representing South Africa with pride and determination and hopes to make the country proud.
