Golden Whistle for Wanri Wenter

South African Hockey is proud to congratulate Wanri Wenter on reaching a special milestone, officiating her 100th international test match and earning her Golden Whistle.

Wanri becomes just the eighth South African to achieve this, a reflection of her consistency, work ethic and the respect she has earned on the international stage.

She reached the milestone in India at the FIH World Cup Qualifiers, a fitting moment in a journey that has been built over years of steady growth and performance at the highest level.

Adding to the achievement, Wanri has also been appointed as one of South Africa’s officials for the FIH Hockey World Cup in August.

Executive in charge of officials, John Wright, shared his thoughts on the milestone:

“Wanri has put in the work over a long period of time and this milestone is fully deserved. What stands out is her consistency and the way she carries herself on and off the field. She’s a great example for the next group of officials coming through, and we’re incredibly proud to see her reach 100 and head to a World Cup.”

Her achievement is another strong moment for South African officiating, which continues to produce individuals capable of performing at the highest level of the game.

South African Hockey would also like to thank Outsurance for their ongoing support of our officials.

Congratulations Wanri. A fantastic milestone, and one that has been well earned.
