The South African men have slipped 2 places to 15th after failing to make the HWL Round 3, but are likely to retain that position and may improve to 14th after the round of Continental Championships as their nearest rival Japan has already played their Championships and will only gain 450 points for the 6th place they achieved. Can we make up the 31 points on Ireland? With Ireland ranked 5th in Europe it is a strong possibility, but that points weighting will count against us. Making up the 49 points on Canada will not be possible after their 2nd place finish in the Pan American Games which carries more ranking points than a 1st place finish at the Africa Games.

There is only one more ranking tournament left this year after the Continental Championships and that is the HWL finals for the top 8 finishers in HWL Round 3 to be held in India for the Men from 26 November - 6 December and Rosario, Argentina from 5 December - 13 December for Women. South Africa is not involved in either tournament.
