SA Hockey has announced the 18-player squad for the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup 2023 taking place in Santiago in Chile in December 2023. The young South Africans, who are ranked 8th in the FIH Junior Rankings will take on defending champions Netherlands, hosts Chile and old rivals Australia in Pool B.
The South Africans will be taking part in the tournament for the 8th consecutive time, having qualified for the event when they were crowned African Champions in Egypt at the Junior African Cup.
South Africa feature several players who have earned themselves senior caps already including Taheera Augousti, Kayla Swarts and Ntsopa Mokoena. They will also have Cerian Fourie, Daniella de Oliveira (Indoor Hockey) and Rea Phume (Hockey5s) who have experience at Senior International Hockey level to help guide the team through the pressure of the showpiece event.
