The Paris Olympic Games are less than a year away where hockey will once again form part of the program at the tournament. Netherlands women and Belgium Men were the victors of the tournament in Tokyo in 2021 but all eyes are now on who will compete in the tournament in 2024.
For Africa there is a spot reserved for both the mens and womens continental champions and that allocation will be decided at the African Hockey Road to Paris event hosted at Tuks University in South Africa from 29 October – 5 November 2023.
In the Womens tournament there will be 7 teams competing for the spot including hosts and champions of this event in 2019 South Africa. They will be joined in the challenge by 2019 runners up Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia.
In the Mens tournament there will be 8 teams battling it out with South Africa and Egypt headlining the challenge. Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia round out the challenge.
Full tournament details and fixtures will be shared as and when they are released. You will be able to follow the tournament on the SA Hockey Fan App with results updated and shared there.
